Buying Clothes for your dog

As a dog lover, a toy breed lover to be exact, i have a Maltese, Yorkshire Terrier and Pomeranian all under one roof in my tiny little flat!

As all toy breeds owner were, i certainly love to dress them up in fanciful clothings and accessories! I would always train my first dog - my maltese to Sit and Stay on a couch or chair, and make him pose for never ending pictures with various outfits.

I think i buy more clothes for my dogs than myself yearly!

Tips for buying clothes for your dog:

1) What size to get?
If your dog is less than 12 months, which is still a puppy and not full grown, do make it a point to buy at least one size bigger, so that the clothing can still be worn after a few months or years!

2) To determine the size for your dog:

Always measure the chest diameter first, which means one loop around your dog's chest (the broadest part) with one finger in. This is the most vital part where you do not want the clothing to be too tight or too loose. A dog will never ever like to wear clothes if they are too tight fitting or so loose that it distracts them from moving about.

Next, measure the back length of your dog from its neck to base of the tail (not including the tail!) The clothes' lenght do not necessarily need to be exactly the same to your dog's length, but can be less than the actual length, even if it is 50% lesser ( mini dog tees, anyone?) if you think it will still look good on your dog.

If the clothings does not have buttons, and is a slip on, you would have to consider the neck opening diameter with your dog's face and neck.

If you are still unsure, always check with the seller for clarifications and recommendations with your dog's measurements

3)What kind of clothes are good to invest in?
If you always bring your dogs outdoors, to play in the mid or sand, T-Shirts are good and hardy to throw into the washing machine

If you are the type who likes to bring your dogs to places indoors like pet cafes, dog photo studios, pet gatherings at home, feel free to dress them up in lacey delicates and costumes!
